A Royal Presence in Dolmabahçe Palace

Çınar Halı embodies the art of carpet weaving today with a passion that has been passed from father to son. As a way of preserving the Turkish carpet tradition for future generations, Çınar Halı created a rare carpet and presented it to the Dolmabahçe Palace as a gift. It is named as “Royal Silk Carpet” and it is 35 m2 in size. The carpet is displayed in one of the main salons of the palace where Turkish citizens used to visit the Sultan and celebrate religious holidays.
The carpet weighs in at 140 kilograms and contains sixty-four knots per square centimeter. In its production 270 kilograms of raw silk were used and it is the largest silk carpet in the Dolmabahçe Palace inventory.
