World's Largest Double Knotted Silk Carpet

Çınar Halı, whose handwoven silk carpets have made its name known throughout Turkey and the world, has broken new ground.

“The Largest Double Knotted Silk Carpet”, which was produced by Çınar Halı, has been finished after four years of work. It is 102 m2 in size and weighs 350 kilograms. An entire wall of the workshop had to be taken down to be able to move it out.

The production of this carpet involved the most experienced weavers who all had similar weaving styles. A special loom was created that allowed the eighteen weavers to work on it.

This carpet is a member of the Hereke Sultani collection has sixty-four knots per square centimeter. There are sixty-four million knots in this carpet and in its production 950 kilograms of raw silk was used. After being washed and trimmed, the carpet was moved to our showroom where it currently resides and continues to dazzle us with its magnificent colors.
